LEGAL & POLICIES
Privacy Policy
At Sumo Sensei, we value the trust you place in us when booking your Tokyo sumo experience. This policy explains how we handle your personal information with the same respect and discipline we bring to our tours, ensuring your data is protected while you focus on the culture of Japan's national sport.
Privacy Policy
Your trust is the foundation of our sumo journeys. At Sumo Sensei, we are committed to being transparent about how we handle your information, ensuring your focus remains on the rich cultural heritage of Tokyo’s national sport.
Information Collection
We collect essential details for your Sumo Experience, including name, email, and group size. We only request information that directly enhances your tour logistics or helps us coordinate respectful stable visits with the wrestlers.
Data Usage & Security
We never sell your data to third parties. Your information is shared only with necessary partners (like stable masters or tournament venues) to facilitate your entry. We maintain secure temporary records that are deleted upon request.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that travel plans can change. At Sumo Sensei, we strive to be as flexible as possible while respecting the schedules of the sumo stables and our small-group settings.
Standard Cancellations
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled tour start time are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the tour will receive a 50% refund.
No-Shows & Last Minute
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour start time, or guest no-shows, are unfortunately non-refundable as we have already committed resources and reserved spaces in limited-capacity venues.
Stable Practice Changes
Sumo stables are active sporting environments. On rare occasions, a stable may cancel a morning practice at short notice due to tournament schedules or wrestler health. In these cases, we will offer an immediate full refund or a chance to rebook for a later date.
To request a cancellation or change your booking, please reply to your confirmation email or contact us directly at hello@sumosensei.com.
Cancellation Policy
We strive to make our Tokyo sumo experiences as accessible and friendly as possible. Due to the high demand and cultural regulations of the stables we visit, we maintain the following policy for cancellations and tour adjustments to respect the traditions of Japan’s national sport.
Grand Sumo Tournament Tickets
Tournament tickets are strictly non-refundable once purchased. These are official tickets procured from the Japanese Sumo Association and are subject to their specific terms of sale. If you cannot attend, we may be able to facilitate a transfer to another guest, though this is not guaranteed and must be requested well in advance.
Morning Practice Tours
For our stable practice tours, we offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 7 days before the tour date. Cancellations made between 2 and 6 days prior will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the tour's start time are non-refundable as we cannot re-fill your spot at such short notice.
Rescheduling and Late Arrivals
We permit one rescheduling request per booking at no extra cost, provided the request is submitted at least 5 business days before the original tour date. Please note that arrivals more than 10 minutes past the designated meet-up time for morning practice may be considered a 'No-Show' due to stable session protocols.
Questions about your booking?
If you have any questions regarding your cancellation or need to make a change, please reach out to our team at tours@sumosensei.tokyo. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.
Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Sumo Sensei. Please carefully review these terms and conditions before booking a tour. By participating in our sumo cultural experiences, you agree to comply with the rules set forth to protect the integrity of the sport and the privacy of the athletes.
01 / Booking and Tournament Entry
Tour bookings involving official Grand Sumo Tournament tickets are subject to the availability and regulations of the Japan Sumo Association. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. Sumo Sensei acts as a cultural liaison and is not responsible for event cancellations by the official organizers.
02 / Heya Etiquette and Behavior
Sumo stables are sacred spaces of training. Guests must adhere to strict silence during morning practice (Asageiko), avoid standing or moving during sessions, and strictly follow the guide's instructions regarding photography. Failure to comply may result in removal from the tour without refund.
03 / Participant Liability
Participants are expected to be in good health. Some stables require sitting on traditional zabuton cushions on the floor for extended periods. Sumo Sensei is not liable for any physical discomfort, injury, or loss of personal property during the tour.
04 / Schedule Variability
Wrestlers' training schedules are subject to change due to injuries, tournament prep, or ritual obligations. Sumo Sensei reserves the right to modify the tour itinerary to provide the best possible alternative experience should a stable visit be unavailable.
