Sumo Experiences in Tokyo
Experience the world of sumo up close with guided tours designed for international visitors.
Meet Sumo Sensei
Sumo has fascinated me for as long as I can remember.
Like many people, I started as a fan — watching tournaments, learning the rankings, and becoming curious about the traditions behind Japan’s national sport. But the deeper I went, the more I realized something surprising: most visitors to Japan never get the chance to truly understand sumo.
They might watch a match or briefly see a stable practice, but without context it can be hard to appreciate what is really happening. That’s why I created Sumo Sensei.
My goal is to help people experience sumo the way fans in Japan do — understanding the stories, traditions, and culture that make the sport so special. Sumo isn’t just about two wrestlers pushing each other out of a ring. It’s a world of discipline, hierarchy, history, and incredible dedication. And once you understand it, it becomes even more fascinating.
